The strength of the Georgia Wildlife Federation is demonstrated in the tremendous effort and time contributed by our volunteers. We realize that it is through their efforts that GWF continues to grow and spread the conservation message.
Volunteers carry out the GWF mission through activism. They act as a first line of action by calling and writing all levels of government to make their voice heard. They attend meetings and hearings on a variety of subjects that may impact areas large and small.
Volunteers save the Federation thousands of dollars each year by maintaining GWF habitat gardens, donating graphics to the website, and serving as door security at special events. At our outdoor shows alone, the GWF saves over $20,000 a year through the efforts of volunteers.
Our volunteers put their "all" into volunteering for the Georgia Wildlife Federation. They spend countless hours at fairs and festivals getting the word out about GWF. They clear trails so that others might enjoy nature. They count birds for surveys in conjunction with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. They perform administrative work and educate others about conservation and the environment. They get up at the crack of dawn and work well into the night, only being paid with gratitude and a "job well done".
