Gardening at the ACC GARDENing Volunteers are needed to assist with the seasonal maintenance of the gardens and trails at the Alcovy Conservation Center in Covington.
Outdoor Shows

Hunting, Fishing & Outdoor Shows
GWF holds 3 annual shows which provide significant funding for our conservation education programs. Each year over 300 volunteers donate over 3,000 hours serving as door security, greeters, etc. Volunteers working at least 4 hours receive free admission to the show, a GWF t-shirt and a meal.

Rivers Alive

Rivers Alive Annual River Clean Up GWF and Covington-Newton County Clean and Beautiful co-sponsor clean-up efforts along two of Georgia's Rivers. Volunteers collect trash at designated locations along the Alcovy and Yellow Rivers and help prepare and serve lunch.  This is an excellent service activity for scout troups or school groups (ages 12 & up).

Handicapped Hunt Piedmont Handicapped Hunt GWF Volunteers assist wheelchair-bound hunters at the disabled deer hunt at Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge in Juliette, GA. The hunt begins on the last Friday of bow season each October and ends the next day after lunch. Volunteers are needed to help hunters prepare meals, get to site locations, bag and process deer and collect biological data.
Mill Creek Mill Creek Nature Center GWF will be opening a nature center adjacent to the Mall of Georgia in Buford. We are looking for volunteers to assist in trail development and maintenance, and to promote the center to the public. Learn more.
Adopt A Stream

Adopt-A-Stream Monitoring Since the fall of 1996, GWF volunteers have monitored Cornish Creek, a tributary of the Alcovy River, on a quarterly basis.  Participants have a wonderful time wading in the stream and identifying the critters caught in their nets.
