Wetland Monitoring

Wetland Monitoring or Adopt-a-Wetland is a program of Georgia Adopt-a-Stream.  Where Adopt-a-Stream focuses on the health of a stream, Wetland Monitoring measures the health of a wetland, using indicators such as hydrology (amount of water), soil, and vegetation.  Monitoring takes place 4 times a year (quarterly or once a season), so the commitment by volunteers is not overwhelming.  Training workshops are provided, usually in the summer, and guidance from trained volunteers and staff is available for new volunteers needing assistance during a monitoring session.  No experience is necessary, but having an interest to learn wetland plants and not minding getting dirty is always a plus!
