Mill Creek Nature Center
Mill Creek Nature Center is a wetlands/wildlife preserve in Gwinnett County, owned and managed by the Georgia Wildlife Federation. In May 2003, this 88-acre tract was donated to GWF by the Mall of Georgia Partners. The trails consist of natural and boardwalk pathways, 2 bridges crossing over Ivy Creek, an observation tower, a fifteen-bench and stage amphitheatre, a raised workstation alongside Little Ivy Creek and several benches along the paths to sit and take in the beauty of your surroundings.
GWF volunteers have been instrumental in developing trails and maintainting the property. Please consider becoming a volunteer to help us manage the site and continue our wildlife conservation programs.
Rivers Alive at Mill Creek Nature Center
Saturday, October 15, 9am - Noon
Rain or Shine
We'll begin the morning by removing Chinese privet from around the amphitheater. Privet is a non-native, invasive plant that can take over the area if not controlled. Please bring gloves, pruning shears, loppers, bow saws, etc. to cut plants that are too big to pull. Also you may want to bring your own bottled water, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
At 11am, we'll be treated to an animal encounter presented by Cyndi Moore of Reigning Reptiles in Buford. In addition, a limited number/sizes of Rivers Alive t-shirts and Chick-fil-a sandwich coupons will be available for participants.
Parking is available between the Bird Watchers Supply Store (1999B Mall of Georgia Blvd) and Tuesday Morning. Additional parking is across the street in the Mall of Georgia parking lot near Dillards.
Meet at the registration table in the gravel parking lot (near the intersection of Mall of Georgia Blvd and Nature Center Parkway). Please bring a completed waiver for each participant.
