Hunter Education

GWF offers hunter education courses at the Alcovy Conservation Center in Covington, GA and in conjunction with the Perry Buckarama in August, the Great Outdoors Show in February. These courses are designed to prepare hunters for safe and ethical hunting. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive the certification needed to obtain a Georgia hunting license.  Participants must pre-register online at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' website.  Classes will be re-scheduled if the minimum number of participants is not met.

GWF has partnered with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to host hunter education classes for over 20 years. All Hunter Education Courses, including the ones held at GWF Headquarters, are free of charge to all Georgia residents.

Additional Resources

Free Online Treestand Safety Course, HE Tools™ and TMA (The Treestand Manufacturers Association) have teamed up to provide you with a free Treestand Safety Course online. This course is based on TMA's latest treestand safety standards and guidelines. Treestand safety has evolved over the years as new research and statistics have become available. What were once considered to be 'safe' treestand safety practices ten years ago are simply not considered 'safe' today.

Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations Guide.  Available free from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
