Rivers Alive
GWF has sponsored Rivers Alive events since 1993. Each October, over 300 volunteers gather to clean up waterways in Newton and Gwinnett counties. Tons of trash and debris have been removed through the years, including old tires, windows, toilets, and countless drink containers.
Newton County
GWF partners with Keep Covington/Newton Beautiful. Volunteers meet at the square in downtown Covington for breakfast, break up into groups and clean all morning, and then wrap up at the Alcovy Conservation Center at lunchtime. See the Calendar for upcoming event details.
Gwinnett County
Volunteers meet in the morning at GWF's property across from the Mall of Georgia. Groups spend the morning cleaning the Mill Creek wetland and occasionally are treated to additional educational programming. See the Calendar for upcoming event details. Thank you to REI for sponsoring Gwinnett County River's Alive.
