Atlanta Buckarama®

The first Southeastern Buckarama was held at the Atlanta Civic Center in 1984.  In 1987, the show changed locations and moved to the Lakewood Fairgrounds. In 1989, Albany was added to the Atlanta Buckarama, and then Augusta in 1990. In 1991, the Atlanta show moved to the Atlanta Expo Center North, Albany and Augusta locations were discontinued, and the Perry Buckarama  was added at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. The Atlanta Buckarama changed from a three-day event to a four-day event in 1993.  A third Buckarama was again added in Charolotte, North Carolina in 1995 and continued until 1999. The Atlanta Buckarama changed back to a three-day event in 2010. To date, Buckarama tradition remains strong and well attended in both Atlanta and Perry.

The Georgia Wildlife Federation Deer Head Competition has been held in conjunction with the Buckarama since the beginning in 1984. The first GWF Black Powder Shoot, sponsored by CVA, was added to the Perry Buckarama in 1999 and remained in existence through 2006. In 2006, the first Deer Hunters Showdown at High Noon was held in partnership with The Georgia’s Outdoor Adventures Newspaper’s Best Buck Contest. The contest continued under this name until 2008 when it became solely the GWF Grand Shoot as part of the already existing Deer Head Competition.   

The show is held at the Atlanta Expo Center North, I-285 South Exit 55, Jonesboro Rd, Atlanta, Georgia. The dates fall on the first full weekend in August.  The Expo Center is within easy driving distance for at least three million people. This show is a very exhibitor friendly show with most reporting excellent sales.  Plenty of exhibitor lodging is available a short distance away.

The show is presented by the Georgia Wildlife Federation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and helps fund education and conservation projects benefiting sportsmen.

Alcovy Taxidermy
 Ray’s display will feature eight deer that scored over 190” each — that’s a total of at least 1,520 inches of antlers in one display. He will also be hosting seminars in each show on trophy care.

GA DNR Wildlife Resources Division  A special feature for each show this year will be round table discussions with GA DNR/WRD Game Management officials concerning public land hunting opportunities. Join them on Saturday afternoon at each show to learn the who, what, when and where of public land hunting.

Georgia Predator Hunters Learn from the team how to hunt coyote and other predators.

Joe Kelly’s Whitetail Collection  Joe Kelly has been a fixture at Buckarama for over 20 years. Visit with Joe and view his fabulous whitetail deer display. Joe will be presenting deer hunting seminars during both shows.

GWF’s Whitetail Deer and North American Big Game Competition  Enter for a chance to win in one of ten categories. Drawing for a CVA muzzleloader from all entries.  Any person with a mount for the competition entry will receive free entry to the show for two people.

Kid’s Cove  We have a special section in the show just for kids including a fishing rodeo, BB shoot, archery shoot, Southeastern Reptile Rescue Snake Show, craft projects and more.
