Program Description

GWF Conservation Library

Through the Conservation Library, GWF plans to build a collection of accurate and relevant resources to aid students, researchers and the general public in learning more about Georgia's natural resources and the state's past, present and future conservation efforts.

Most resources will be available online.  A small collection of documents and publications will be available for use at the Alcovy Conservation Center in Covington. Featured collections will include original journals and writiings from the late Dr. Charles Wharton, and the body of work created by GWF staff, board and volunteers throughout the organizations near 75-year history.

The library is in development, but a small number of files are already available.

Original journal sketches and writings from the late Dr. Charles Wharton will be a featured collection. This particular sketch includes the location of GWF's current headquarters in Covington and surrounding tupelo swamp.
The library will feature a special collection on the history of Georgia Wildlife Federation. The poster shown here is promoting the 1936 North American Wildlife Conference in Washington, D.C. Attendees from Georgia returned from this meeting to form GWF.
